this particular cat has apparently been on paraffin and not accepting, I am trying lactulose as of now, but suspect there will be similar issue with administration. I had heard the oral powder was better accepted so this is the back up plan, but would have been inclined to reach for it straight away if it was to hand.

I'll not tell you how many bottles I could buy for that, but I make it a 300%+ mark-up for a 500ml bottle of lactulose.

Are you shopping the same place as Clive?

List price is £7.41 (£8.89 inc vat)

That's a 371% mark up

Human generic is £15.16 for 500ml list so £1.50ish for 50ml, but worth a reasonable premium as a single dispensable dose, no mess, no need for decanting, waste etc. I don't think that's too bad, think £33 is criminal

I have had several clients who just can't get lactulose into their cats. They won't take it in food and I think syringing it in cats mouths is very stressful for all involved. Also think over use of lactose can lead to dehydration..this is probably just anecdotal but I have found the PEG powder far better for compliance and actually effect

I'm a natural "rule follower" ...but I do feel justified in using this.

Don't want to be a party pooper, but the cascade regs raise their ugly head again.

There is a licensed lactulose now, so there needs to be good and justifiable reason for going off label.

We use PEG powder from Bova. I start at 1/8th teaspoon twice a day and titrate. Seems very well accepted.
