We have a lovely 5 mth old FE SBT presenting with severe disseminated fungal infection (branching hyphae observed on cytology of fluid drained from swelling over the head, culture pending) - marked osteolytic lesions of the mandible

RE: Disseminated fungal disease in a 5mth old SBT

Not great looking from the sidelines -

1. young growing animals get weird things - could there be other dds?

2. if it definitely a systemic fungus, it’s potentially a very serious source of infection to others

3. chances of good and complete recovery not good?

I think unless the fungus comes back as incredibly susceptible to treatment, this poor dog and family need to be committed to a very prolonged treatment ( how long before you can say fungal osteomyelitis cured?) or considering pts ?

The magic ivermectin as immunostimulant?

RE: Disseminated fungal disease in a 5mth old SBT

where are you based? just curious but suspect your primary immunodeficiency theory has a lot to commend it.
