Repeat problems with haematuria.
I highly suspect calcium oxalate to be cause (we see this in this breed quite a lot locally)
pH6, SG 1.040.
Typical GI problems also (has taken a while to find a diet that it

RE: Mini Schanuz best diet for CaOx when has issues with hyperlipidemia

Bit sobering to read that even at best, with the stones that do potentially dissolve with diet, almost all had recurrence and a good response was only about 30-40% (with exception of struvite)

RE: Mini Schanuz best diet for CaOx when has issues with hyperlipidemia

The ACVIM guidelines at https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC5032870/ have some good advice on preventing oxalate stones

RE: Mini Schanuz best diet for CaOx when has issues with hyperlipidemia

Thought c/d is pH acidifying and very little effect on Ca oxalate with a possibility low ph actually might bring crystals out of solution?

how about concentrating on lowering calcium? High fluid intake, take off dry cereal based food, move to the dreaded meat based diets, low calcium intake, preds or other meds to lower Ca uptake?

RE: Mini Schanuz best diet for CaOx when has issues with hyperlipidemia

For info if anyone else reading this later (other suggestions still welcome!):

Am going to try Hill's c/d multicare which comes in a little over budget (£38.50 a month), but is based on pea-protein apparently and has a similar fat% to the fish based food being fed and agreeing well - albeit with lots of fat globules in urine..., so hopefully will be tolerated OK and promises excellent calcium oxalate prevention.

Hill's also suggested their i/d low fat (I think I have that name right) which has low fat in it and they consider to not be calcium oxalate forming.

They said w/d (which I have used previously in this scenario) was reformulated at one point and has a higher fat content that it used to and might be lower down the list compared with top 2 suggestions on their product offerings.

Will see if will take watered down a bit also.
