we stopped stocking misoprostol as not much evidence and adverse effects can be problematic.

My own dog (of course) stole an almost full large bottle of metacam off a table overnight (not out away after use annoyingly) and ate probably a lot of it. He is a 9.5kg Border Terrier. He had terrible melaena and vomited for about 24 hours, had IV fluids, and initially omeprazole, but BI recommended misoprostol. We already stock it because we do horse work, so I started that too. It took about (a very very long feeling) 10 days for him to start eating properly, he became very suspicious of anything I gave him. Miraculously absolutely no change in renal or hepatic values during or after which I consider to be a confidence boost in using metacam in some older patients.
