In my opinion, it's becoming a welfare issue. Far too easy to say lock them up

Any evidence that locking backyard poultry up will actually make a difference? (I worked on the first outbreak)

I agree with you Bob, if you are interested I do have a concurrent survey for poultry keepers, which has some overlap with the Vet one.

I haven't filled in the survey as I'm not currently working in practice.

However, my observation locally (and I'd extrapolate nationally) is that many small flock/backyard poultry keepers are either unaware of the regs, or choosing to ignore them.

My own small flock is locked up I hasten to add...much to their disgust...
