I think over the last three weeks we've had 12 cases. All puppies aged 4-10 months that have had their primary vaccination course but obviously not their year one booster. Got a pretty good success rate

RE: Parvovirus
It’s interesting, I genuinely can barely remember the last time we saw a parvo dog, it must be years, and we are North Yorkshire
Same, not in the last 10 years. We use Eurican so minimum of 12 week finish.

What we did in Romania in shelters to stop it was starting early at 6 weeks with Parvo C which in theory should use most of the maternal antibodies and then DHP at 8 and 10 weeks and those puppies were fine surviving a parvo infested overcrowded shelter.

Regarding treatment we don't do anything else different except that we don't use plasma or interferon, I didn't think it made a difference.

We used to see about 5-10 cases a day in Romania during an outbreak.

RE: Parvovirus
What age are you doing your second vaccinations?
Varies, some at 10 weeks, some at 12 weeks. Genuine question, as it came up in CPD I was at a couple of years ago, is IV coamoxiclav better than parenterak injection? The course I was at suggested very similar blood levels after an hour. (Unless my memory is failing). Of course repeated s/c or I/m injections can cause reactions but is on licence. We give 2nd parvo at 10wks and no too up till one year. With the vaccine shortage trying to add an additional dose might be an issue.

RE: Parvovirus
All puppies aged 4-10 months that have had their primary vaccination course but obviously not their year one booster
We also offer off licence 3rd parvo vac to all dogs at the 16 week mark ....we also had a few cases in vaccinated puppies..not just black and tan breeds.
