Although the dog is proteinuric, how are the total protein levels on blood results? That will probably influence the level of treatment required.

I doubt that moderate periodontal disease plays a massive role in this case

the major issue is the renal disease.

Dogs don't tend to do well with these situations - I tend to find I'm lucky to get 12 months - so I too would be reluctant to do the dentistry

sometimes you just can't win, but probably best to be guided by the clients wishes

As the animal isn't hypertensive yet, I would be reluctant to add amlodipine yet , but it doesn't do much harm as it can only lower BP to a certain level regardless of dose and doesn't result in hypotension so might be worth considering especially if the BP is creeping up
