what is your Trazodone experience? we have lots of young farm dogs with injured legs recently that needs crating for many weeks after ortho op or various injuries and as you know it gets really tough for owners to rest them as they vocalise

RE: Trazodone experience

No disinhibition but it doesn't always work as well as I would like

You need to be a bit more 'generous' than the cautious doses proposed by some - I will give 10mg/kg of trazodone 12 and 2 hours before the visit. some dogs will also get 20mg/kg of gabapentin given at the same time as the trazodone - that helps a lot - but dogs that need that much still need a muzzle

And sometimes they still need domitor too !

RE: Trazodone experience

Any disinhibited aggression ?

RE: Trazodone experience

We had very good experience with it both post op and for nervous dogs before appointment. For nervous dogs we would combine it with gabapentin and given 1 hour before setting off and it made a massive difference.

RE: Trazodone experience

I think it does help a bit in my experience.
