Change to the Virbac range. The dog vaccines are exactly the same and the cat ones are perfectly good.

MSD have behaved like bully's and that never looks good. Thanking people for allowing themselves to be pushed around shows how low the company has dropped. How much bad feeling do they have to create before they have a rethink?

Actually, I think this may backfire on MSD- we ONLY buy MSD products from second wholesaler, despite them trying repeatedly to get us to buy other things! We are invoiced directly by MSD... This makes me think that NVS are not actually receiving any money from us, despite delivering to us every day or so?? Surely they will get fed up with that...Then if those "selected" wholesalers decide it's not worth the hassle, and the wholesalers who were previously not permitted to deal with MSD don't feel like re-opening negotiations it could be a tricky one for MSD. I'm only staying with them because I like their vaccines...

We have found Covetrus to be a first class wholesaler and will not be bullied into changes by a single company. It is clear they are interested in by-passing practices (hence the 'Direct').

I consider it more than cheeky to see an advertising campaign thanking me for being forced to change how I buy medicines.

The new cat Nexgard should be with us next month so I should be able to reduce my MSD spend further.

Don't worry Bob. You are not alone. I felt exactly the same, and have swapped from them wherever possible, purely out of principle rather than on financial grounds. Haven't even wasted my time working out if monthly nexgard spectra or credelio is eating into my margins. Zoetis were also more than happy to supply vaccines wherever and whenever I wanted, rather than on any sort of restricted terms.

My Covetrus order arrives at 7.30 every morning, is checked off, downloaded onto the PMS and on the shelves before any clients are on the car park. NVS deliver the very small amount of MSD product at some time before 12, usually when the car park is full, clients everywhere, phones ringing off the hook. I know which my staff prefer!

I am possibly the only one that is feeling more than a bit pis+ed off being thanked by MSD for being forced to buy their products from a different wholesaler to the normal one. We now have two vans delivering to the practice rather than one and an increased carbon footprint.

"Thank you for accepting our anticompetitive behaviour without making much fuss" is closer to the reality. Thank you for doing what is not a choice!

Oddly they have not replied to my emails on the subject nor have we had any rep contact.

Sadly we still have to buy some of their products but we have reduced our spend with them as much as possible.

Sorry Arlo for the rant but I consider their behaviour disgraceful so I will not accept their thanks

We have all the hassle of getting Bravecto from a different wholesaler because MSD will not supply through Dunlops/Henry S/Covetrus. Looking forward to the arrival of Nexgard Combo for cats.

As long as the price is sensible this will be our favoured choice with Credelio as an option.

Fipronil products have long since shown themselves to be unreliable around here.

Thanks Stephen. I am my own client here and I wanted to know the pros and cons of its use cf to fipronil spot on and Milbemax worm tablets. His dose getsnalways get put on the calendar. He has his own column on each page now! Thank you to everyone, this has been very useful and helpful.

I plan on searching Entrez PubMed for data as well; see it it reveals anything as helpful as you have all been?

I really rate bravecto, but if cats will take credelio crushed into food - most do- then it's far less messy and just as effective.

The other issue with bravecto is remembering to reapply q12 weeks - our PMS will automatically text clients, but before we had that, most everyone forgot to get the next dose!

My nose doesn't pick up a smell from bravecto in the consult room - I often apply it for clients - and it certainly smells much less than advocate

Bear in mind there is a significant anti Bravecto online campaign so you need to warn clients it's bollocks otherwise they think they know more than you - learned that the hard way, along with L4 issues

that's what my cat gets. Monthly tablet and easy to get him to eat it. I even made a video - if there's any Elanco reps watching, I'm happy to sell it to you!

I use Bravecto spot-on principally on other people's cats. I found it didn't last a full 12 weeks on my cat (fleas live in house after 10 weeks) when i applied it, and I didn't like the sticky mess. Still, 10 weeks+ is hard to beat from a single treatment. I'll confess I struggle to remember monthly credelio.

Stonghold plus is my other weapon of choice - monthly, but small volume that doesn't leave sticky mess.

Bravecto tablets off-license can be an appealing option (dosed at presumed correct dose rate for cats which probably differs from dogs), but not licensed for cats I must emphasise and I am not recommending for your cat!

I really like Bravecto, it does seem to be much more effective that a lot of other products against fleas. I do notice it has a strong smell that lingers for a good week or so (this may only be relevant if your cat basically sleeps on your face like mine does)

I gave up on bravecto on my British shorthairs. I didn't like the mess it made of their fur, it is really sticky! ( I know because I got it on my skin -gloves are advised).

If he is tabletable...what about credelio once a month. Mine take it in Lickie-licks soft treat sticks.
