Funnily enough, I had one of these today- the owner says the pills are nowhere near as good at controlling the symptoms, despite us increasing the dose twice.

That's interesting Ian - I haven't seen non-responders - my experience of the pills is generally good and the owners enjoy the price - they are often very unhappy reverting to the drops again lol. You see far more though so I will be on the look out for issues - thanks.

I have found the DDAVP pills to be fairly variable between dogs - some owners love them, some think they do not work well.

I had one client who injected DDAVP every day (SC works fine) and if we can do it for one sort of diabetes we can do it for the other (just needed to teach them how to snap open the vials. Can get away with low doses and used strategically (i.e. late evening so the floor is dry in the morning and the dog then is allowed to be PU/PD during the day. Not sure it is a long term solution but it does buy you a few weeks to sort out other solutions

Veenak Veterinary supplies have Desmopressin Nasal Spray 10mcg 6mls for £25.50, I've had the same problem today sourcing the drops from Covetrus. Covetrus were charging £113.00 for the same nasal spray. The spray seems to work as well with our patient but the owner prefers the drops.

We use the 200/400ug desmopressin pills - often a lot cheaper than the drops - prices seem to fluctuate a lot.
