I generally find human suspensions of gabapentin, memantine, fluoxetine etc are flavoured with substances abhorrent to cats (TEVA gabapentin = anis, fluoxetine and amantadine = mint). With a veterinary compounded product you know it will not contain xylitol. So, though some cats will still not take it, the BOVA and Summit gabapentin products are superior in my opinion.

We also use the Summit chicken flavoured liquid. Some cats will take it in lickelix, but it’s only about 1-1.5ml per cat so if they won’t, squirting it in their mouth isn’t too bad. Great for chilling cats out if they are a bit anxious for bloods etc.

A TEVA branded bottle mysteriously appeared in our clinic this week - no-one has claimed it yet, so don't take that as an endorsement of its suitability.

Hi Evelyn I currently have a few cats on it for OA - you can get it from BOVA and it’s chicken flavoured although I think some of them still hate the taste!
