Also usually go 1-2mg/kg (the 0.4 didn’t register when I read it!)

RE: help with dyspnoeic cat this evening
We opted for Euthanasia
Settled on oxygen and butorphanol so ultrasound to check diaphragm and fluid . Pleural and peritoneal effusion . Very poor contractility of heart . Drained 70 ml fluid to help rule out other causes and after a chat with owners. We opted for Euthanasia. It had a really solid non compressible thorax which was odd . I think just from respiratory effort but had considered neoplasiau

RE: help with dyspnoeic cat this evening
and give 0.4mg/kg furosemide IM
This has CHF and I would drain what pleural fluid I could and give 4mg/kg [edited, thanks Gillian! Sounds like my dose might be a bit high now though!] furosemide IM (+ leave in appropriate oxygen-enriched calm environment)

I think the diaphragmatic line is obscured by the effusion, and the gas bubble in stomach from aerophagia due to dyspnoea, with the gas bubble in the stomach overlying the lungs in the DV view.
