I'm going to see a Maine Coon later that has had kittens last week and is apparently still bleeding. I can't say I've come across this being asked much before

RE: Post partum bleeding cat

Spotting can be up to two months in cats and dogs. It's not purulent or malodorous either. She's well in herself and bright etc. I did a focused ultrasound anyway and there may be signs of metritis in one horn at least but I don't do a lot of ultrasounds on cats post having kittens. We shall see. We're 6 days post having the kittens now.

RE: Post partum bleeding cat

I guess, as with everything, it would depend a little on severity etc. A small amount of bloody discharge a week after probably not a concern, if copious, or horribly foetid stinky discharge, or accompanied by a big mass effect in the abdomen would obviously be more of a worry!

I saw one last month that had traces of bloody discharge 3 days after having kittens, which was almost certainly normal, but we gave a jab of oxytocin to try and speed up resolution (which probably made no real difference to the timeline)
