Hey,

I got my friend to bring the dog again to our practice and we did the hip xray again. The vet also agreed that the positioning wasn't perfect.

Here is the xray. Thanks Jeremy for the video. It helped me improve how I take xrays.

What are your thoughts ?

Thanks for the reply Arlo. I am not looking to critique or finding faults. I did help in taking the xrays. As a student, I just want to improve my knowledge of diagonising xrays and taking better xrays.

I am on my staycation at the moment, but I think that with the permission of the clinic and the owner, it’s OK if radiographs are identifiable.

What I think is more problematic is asking people here to comment on someone else’s diagnosis, other than in the very broad way that people already have. In other words, if you had taken the radiographs yourself and wanted another opinion, great, that is what this community is for. But asking members to pass comment on someone else’s work is not really fair on the person who took the radiographs / diagnosed.

I took a screenshot from the youtube video. Looks like the xray taken in my practice is tilted to the right. How much would this affect the diagnosis of hip dysplasia ? Do you think the dog in the below xray is still showing mild dysplasia or would this be severe or milder ?

Thanks for the reply Jill. My lecturer told me the importance of positioning of femur during hip xrays as it can make good hips bad looking and vice versa. How do you think the above xrays rate when it comes to positioning

Forgive me Krishna, I think you should crop the names from these radiographs, regardless, or a moderator will do it.

I think the assessment is fair, if you are looking for reassurance.

Remember, as an undergraduate you will frequently see cases which you might decide to manage or treat slightly differently and it is part of your private learning process.

Yes Malcom. I spoke to the practice and clients before sharing these images. Also, the client is a friend of mine whom I recommended to the practice.

These radiographs are identifiable to a specific clinic and a specific patient.

Do you have the permission of the client and the practice to share these?
