As long as the cat has had its primary course (and by this I mean Tricat/FeLV 3-4 weeks apart and then a booster 12months later) I don't worry too much about them being overdue and will often give adult cats a single booster even if it's been 2+ years since their last one as I understood there is a lot of evidence to suggest a single booster is effective in adult cats. I always discuss this with the owner first and make sure they are aware it's off licence.

I've been using this from MSD. If it's wrong, by all means shoot me, but please wait until I've paid off VAT, HMRC, NEST, PAYE et alia, as they all have first charge over my soul. RCVS are OK as I've already paid them.

Special precautions for use in animals

It is recommended that animals be treated for intestinal parasites at least 10 days prior to vaccination.

I don't know if manufacturers have advice on exceeding the 3 years. Short of that, maybe advise clients that the 3 yearly vaccine is time limited, and if they go over they will need to restart. I guess if they are late for the year 2 vaccine, we could suggest giving the full one early. Give them the option.

Where clients are routine late for, or forget vaccinations some years, I tend to edge on the side of caution and give the full vaccination.

I guess it also depends on local disease risk. (if you're not seeing cases in adult patients that are getting this every 3 years (and those getting less frequently), then there would be no indication to reduce your vaccine interval)

I don't think you need to be worrying about slipping a few weeks over 3 years and do at 2 years in case this happens. (I think you are doing them at 3 years in case slips to 4 years or more and some [very few] lose immunity as result re DHP])

I thought 3 years could be thought of as "minimum" duration of immunity (DOI) rather than "maximum" DOI? [with relation to DHP anyway]
