What is the normal water intake by a hamster? Not much at a guess!1- 2 ml per day? No idea without looking it up somewhere. Good luck with that.

But don't be deceived by the normal creamy vaginal discharge of a hamster in season of course.

Sorry, forgot to mention the obvious. Female, only hamster in the house, owner has had for over a year. Appeared suddenly rather than gradually. Owner palpated the abdomen during the consult ans it was soft, no masses felt. I was considering possibly ovarian cysts? But they wouldn't appear so suddenly

Is the distension tense or soft? If firm it sounds like fluid. f soft. what can you palpate. It sounds like ultrasound would be the best investigative procedure: non-invasive, no GA compared to an X-ray so good luck with this. If fluid, paracentesis perhaps would be revealing.

OTOH! How do you fancy a hamster laparotomy? As a last resort, literally last in fact? I'd be interested to now the outcome here...
