We have an old cat approx. 15years who is constantly licking the walls to the extent of removing the paint. The owner says he does this even during the night.
Bloods show he has slightly high Urea , normal creatinine but very high lipase.
Why connect a really strange obsession, and pretty rare, directly and causitively, with very common old-cat pathology?

Pancreatic enzymes are eliminated via the kidneys so can be elevated with kidney disease, and my understanding is that lipase is not very useful for diagnosing anything in cats!
