I have a 16 year old cat (staff pet) with a lesion on the nasal planum. Histopathology shows carcinoma in situ with small nests of neoplastic cells

RE: Imiquimod use in cats

Thanks

RE: Imiquimod use in cats

Cambridge Vet School

RE: Imiquimod use in cats

Which referral centre?

RE: Imiquimod use in cats

We've referred a few for photodynamic therapy, with good success

RE: Imiquimod use in cats

The owner is not keen on the aesthetics or cost of surgery or radiotherapy (no local centres for radio). Might be hard to achieve on nose...

For BISC: Tips seemed to be to clip hair around lesions and stop cat licking it off... and that improvement might be slow and incomplete...

Flat toothpicks to scoop a bit of cream from single use packets to get more use was a suggestion (soaks into cotton buds a bit more than just a simple piece of wood).

Phil Bergman (who wrote the original paper on use in BISC I think) said when I asked a number of years ago that he now gets owners to hold the cat for 10-15 mins after application and then wipe away any excess. Oral erythema and behavioural issues from licking seemed to have been a problem in a number of cats.

I've thought about using it on a number of occasions, have never used it, and have not regretted that decision as yet.
