Could they actually mean 18.7 =/- 4.7hours. We wouldn't want to giving out inaccurate details, would we, VMD?

Yes, we are on Voyager and they did come round all our branches the other week replacing all our routers and fiddling with phones. Likely happened then.

Not all, I suspect it will be those IVC practices that are running the centrally managed practice management system, those of us who are running our own practice management systems would have to implement something like this ourselves.

Ah ha - I suspect you might have had a PSS inspection recently, as that is a newish thing which is now being dicussed. You can refer the client to the specific SPC for the product on the VMD or NOAH website (providing you are sure that the client has the gumption to access that info on-line).

In the past most vets have not generally provided written information with 'split-pack' meds, which may not have a Product Insert available (e.g. handing out a few loose tablets from a bulk pack of Preds or whatever). The VMD has said that written info must always be made available to the client.

Has anyone under the age of 40 tried reading the data sheet for Sulphatrim? I challenge anyone to tell me what it says without the use of magnification.

I don't think my 'phone takes photos- I just use the otoscope lens to magnify stuff.

Am i alone in finding some Product Inserts more and more irritating. Had one the other day - when unfolded was about a metre square - in six different languages and tiny print, which with my aged eyes made it virtually impossible to read.

Not easy to find the bit you are looking for in a hurry!

Sarah - what NOAH call datasheets ARE datasheets. They are different things. The information you've copied says what I did in different words. The SPC is, indeed, the formal legal document. The datasheet is a summary of it (or, in some cases, a replica of the SPC). Trust me, I have authored datasheets. There is indeed a lot of confusion between an SPC, a datasheet, and indeed the Product Insert (which is the bit for the client, sometimes referred to as the PIL (Patient Information Leaflet) in human medicine.

I don't know why NOAH still call them 'datasheets' but they have been SPCs for many years:

There is no legal requirement to issue data sheets under the VMR (Veterinary Medicine Regulations) as the SPC (Summary of Product Characteristics) is now the full legally approved document for all authorised veterinary medicines under the VMR.

Full SPCs for all authorised veterinary medicines are made available by the VMD on their website.

The traditional Data Sheet is an abbreviated form of the SPC and contains all the essential information for the prescriber which is consistent with the SPC and are of course also available in this online version of the compendium in an easily searchable database

If data sheets do not actually exist then what am I looking at on the NOAH website under Compendium of Data Sheets or Search Data Sheets?

Looking at the data sheets for both it seems they are both magic in that the maximum serum levels for praziquantel are reached in 18.7 +/- 47hours i.e 28.3 hours before application to 65.7hours after!

I hadn't realised Profender was exactly the same, magic and all!

Datasheets do exist. They're usually abridged SPCs.
