I have a dog with possible 'rumination syndrome' based on reading of the human literature. He is a 2yo, MN, Goldendoodle with perpetual vomiting/regurgitation (white froth, bile or food) which can be immediately

RE: Levosulpiride or baclofen use in dogs?

Just as an off the wall thought, if he’s bringing up lots of froth, it isn’t one of those weird phenobarb responsive hypersalivation things? I had one that I thought was regurgitating or vomiting, tried everything, then got some great advice from Ian Ramsey who suggested a phenobarb trial and he never looked back. The problem was the excessive saliva was overwhelming his oesophagus and stomach.

RE: Levosulpiride or baclofen use in dogs?

Did you give the omeprazole once or twice daily? Still bringing up food after most meals and loosing weight +++. Difficult for them to live with although its looking as though they might have to! I haven't tried sucralfate as the oesophagus looked completely normal and no gastric ulceration either but I will give it a go just in case - thanks

RE: Levosulpiride or baclofen use in dogs?

Sucralfate to protect oesophagus might be worth a try?

RE: Levosulpiride or baclofen use in dogs?

Is the dog a healthy weight? As long as not very malnourished I think I'd feed small meals of easily digestible food and manage expectations with the owner. This could well be simply behavioural or even normal for the dog. You've investigated in great detail and tried a heap of drugs. If you've ruled out anything sinister - live with it?

Not everything needs treating or can be cured.
