Thanks Rob!

Do you have a recommended reference with diagrams or video of this - I've never seen Stades technique in action and find it hard to visualise precisely in my minds eye.

Re this puppy: I cut away the skin folds (3-point stellate rhytidectomy I think) that were causing the drooping upper eyelid and hasn't needed any other treatment to date, although there is apparently still some upper and lower lid entropion I think - just doesn't seem to be causing any problems.

Next up plan is to open up ear canals when 7 to 9 months old. 6 months now and been managing with osurnia in meantime.

RE: Shar Pei Entropion (... modified brow suspension)

Point 1.

A Stades technique to lift and evert the upper eyelid with a modification described by Allgower to include the protuberance of skin dorsomedially. This is our go to procedure and we will rarely need to deviate from this.

We probably treat 10-15 cases per year like this including older spaniels - it works really well for them as well.

We like it as it preserves the folds, doesn’t leave suture material in place permanently and keeps a full range of eyelid movement

Point 2

i haven’t got a clue either and I have listened to the authors lecture on it. I have done slightly different variations on this using a mesh. It takes ages.

Also this is the added bonus of the Stades. It is really quite quick as it involves excision of skin and one line of continuous sutures.
