The dog is a 9yo female neutered cocker spaniel

Not sure that matters anyway.

Unless it progresses to renal failure then I avoid the term 'Alabama Rot' because it is a bit daft. It does not originate in Alabama and they don't rot until after death!

I use the line (if asked) that statistically it is very unlikely to be the condition but in the very rare instance it does follow the CRGV path, the prognosis is poor.

RE: Might this be Alabama Rot?

Alabama rot definitely exists . If concerned use a urine sample to check for proteinuria as an early screen and avoid NSAIDS. Most Alabama Rot cases that progress to kidney problems do so early in the course of the disease.

RE: Might this be Alabama Rot?

Yes, it's gone home with some Betafuse. I can't say that I've ever worried about crgv but this one just looked a bit weird

Completely normal bloods would have been fine! I think that SDMA has its uses, but I would normally discount one that close to normal.

RE: Might this be Alabama Rot?

Doesn’t looks a typical CRGV lesion IMO
I would be treating with something like Isaderm.
totally agree with David re SDMA

RE: Might this be Alabama Rot?

Alabama rot doesn't exist imo.
