I have been part of the team at a wildlife charity looking after a sparrow hawk, which has been managed for a reduced fracture of one of its wings. The bird has been medicated daily for ca 6 weeks. It has been very stressed when handled

RE: Inpatient sparrow hawk - advice is sought to manage the stress associated with daily medicating

Get it to pay up-front, 'cos I read it the same....

Fracture healing should be complete by 3-4 weeks so is there a complication preventing release? Can this bird fly now?

Sparrowhawks are massively stressy birds and any handling will cause distress. I tend to medicate them in food and leave them alone as much as possible. Antifungal cover is mandatory for this level of intervention as immunocompetence is severely reduced by stress and aspergillosis is a common consequence.
