Back in 2013 in the New Forest after a particularly cold wet spell we started seeing dogs with odd ulcerative lesions which , had they been seen in summer we would have considered snake bites . Some but not many then went on to develop proteinuria and renal failure. At some points in 2013/2014 between November and April we were seeing a couple of dogs at least every week with suspicious symptoms. Some sloughed huge areas on their limbs , sometime with renal changes , some without . Over the last 3 years the number of cases have dwindled and we saw none last winter. So it is a definite entity. I just wonder if our local population has developed some sort of immunity

Not sure I agree. I would say 'may well not exist as a single disease'.

We have had two that fitted the criteria right at the beginning. Does not come from Alabama and they don't rot (until dead)!

RE: CRGV (Alabama Rot) project

It doesn't exist IMO.
