I agree, we don't use neutral insulin often enough to keep it in and I have stabilised DKA patients well with Caninsulin. Though my other thought with neutral insulin is the severely hyperkalaemic patient, I've had to use neutral insulin and glucose once in a dog in an Addisonian crisis with a potassium of 8.4 (3.5-5.8) when fluids and glucocorticoids weren't improving things quickly enough. Looking on our wholesaler list we can order 'Insulin Actrapid' from Centaur which looks to be a neutral human insulin produced in yeast by recombinant DNA technology.

Agree with Sarah - i’d reach for prozinc now as licensed.

As a tangent I did wonder if this was going to about neutral insulin - we can’t get Hypurin Bovis at the moment. What’s everyone else using For DKA?

Prozinc now has a marketing authorisation for use in dogs.

I've been wondering about this as well, my current best thought is to try them on ProZinc.
