By the way the RHS of the picture would be prepuce and the LHS would be scrotum.

I did as many suggested and thought to be a good idea and gave a shot of systemic steroids. It improved and my cat developed diabetes. I finally managed to get him back in remission, and as you see in the picture, the problem has returned.

I have prescribed metacam, buster collar and off-license isaderm (thinks is dog's only) this time, hoping for the steroid content be not enough to cause DM.

Any suggestions?

Yep.

I have recently attended Yoga and pilates classes to help with a back injury, but I seem unable to master that particular pose so far.

Will keep trying though.

Slang or alternative words for testicles seem to have crept into everyday use in our language.

we use; balls, bollocks, goolies, stones, cojones

phrases we use include;

load of rubbish or nonsense = a load of bollocks or balls

a set back of any kind = kick in the ******

full throttle = full bollocks

man up, or, get on and do something about it = grow a pair of cojones (or other euphemism) and learn how to use them.

Dettol is really bad for animal skin. Does the owner use this to attract he cat back to the litter tray as it smells just like urine ! Iodine spray is a big no-no for dog and rabbit scrotums - have seen some pretty spectacular reactions to that when come in for castration.

Can't say I've heard the expression "the dog's bollocks" much in Australia. We are more likely to refer to animal testicles as "balls" rather than "bollocks" - that seems to be more of a British euphamism. We also call them "goolies" .

Yep, once the dettol is stopped, this should clear up. Dettol is pretty irritant and causes dermatitis when not rinsed or cleaned off the surface.

source: naked african grey parrot. Owner decided that spraying the bird with clean water for daily bathing was not clean enough, it would be cleaner if dettol was added to the water. True story.

Bird recovered.

My head might have been slightly sore from hitting the desk a few times, a little while later. It was in lieu of hitting the owner's head against said desk.

Aside from the correct/PC terminology, is the dettol in the tray a new thing coinciding with the dermatitis? Or a change in cat litter? Cos a contact thing as the trigger seems a strong possibility. In which case barrier cream plus change litter/stop dettol plus topical corticosteroids plus buster collar short term. Otherwise look at anal sacs/anal irritation eg tapeworm as a trigger for self trauma

I think I would do away with the Dettol and see what happens.

B******s is not really an acceptable word. One it is anatomically incorrect (he hasn't got any), and two some may find it inappropriate or offensive (I don't)

Scrotum, scrota, testicle and testes are acceptable terminology though

Just because Liberal Democrat members/supporters believe it's an appropriate term to use in a professional forum....and in turn the British media think it's less offensive than turning one's back...I would disagree!

Surely the Dettol wouldn't be causing such a localised problem?

Is it self-traumatising? Hair pluck to see? Any urinary issues? Neurotic indoor cat?
