Agree tho' interestingly Desrelorin on EU 37/2010 says 'No MRL reqiured'....but when incorporated into an implant it must be anyone's guess?

Just wonder what will happen with our current adherence to EU 37/2010 for FPAs and Cascade if/when Brexit happens.....

RE: Pet chicken with liver failure

Agree with above comments. Deslorelin is on table 1 of EU37/2010 so is perfectly legal to use under cascade. According to poultry CPD I've been to, getting an owner to sign anything us meaningless - they're a FPA, end of story. But this does mean that it has to be recorded in the owner's medicine book, and yes, vet has to determine appropriate WP. Notes I have from CPD recommend 3 months after effect worn off (so after recommencement of laying), but doesn't explain rationale behind that period.

RE: Pet chicken with liver failure
Correct me if I'm wrong (never used suprelorin in a chicken), but deslorelin is listed in Table1 for food producing species (albeit horses) so could legally be used in chickens under the cascade?
Yes. You as the vet have to decide on an appropriate withdrawal period, which means looking at the pharmacokinetic/dynamics. However, if this is a true pet, never intended for humna consumption or egg production, you are probably OK. I'd get it in writing from the owner though

RE: Pet chicken with liver failure
I get annoyed with the changes in CPD with the RCVS treating us like naughty children, then every day someone doesn't seem to understand something as simple as the cascade.

RE: Pet chicken with liver failure

Interesting option .
not egg peritonitis, xrays clear of any shell , aspirate of transudate not exudate and just clear fluid with low protein

bloods indicative of liver failure and hypoalbuminaemai , hypoproteinaemia , Lowe blood urea , no indication of changes in white cells , afebrile, painful abdo on internal examination , still eating , some respiratory embarrassment

As for possible causes: I've always considered, without any particular evidence, that these are mostly due to egg peritonitis, or just straight peritonitis.
