Slide agglutination and a smear could be useful if you have access to a microscope, and as mentioned an abdo tap to look for haemoabdomen.

RE: Sudden onset of anaemia

Ultrasound tomorrow might be too late. I would want to rule in/out blood in the abdomen perhaps from a splenic mass or rupture, in case she needs emergency surgery.

Can you do a sterile abdominocentesis to see if there is blood in the abdomen? If available to you, you could radiograph the abdomen to look for loss of serosal detail, also indicating fluid (ie possibly blood) in the abdomen.

RE: Sudden onset of anaemia

Have you done a slide agglutination test?
A full haematology including smear examination to check platelets etc and to decide if regenerative or non-regenerative would be high on my to do list. Has this been done?

I see you are based in India so there may be plenty of more exotic (to most of us!) causes of anaemia.

Full detailed haematology would be useful including cytologist comments if possible!!!

Sorry to be unhelpful but sometimes you have to go back to basics, loss of blood, early destruction of red cells, failure to produce red cells etc.

RE: Sudden on set of anaemia

Bilirubin is not included,ALT is normal..

RE: Sudden on set of anaemia

Any idea whether this is a non-regenerative or regenerative anaemia?
