Interesting piece, thanks. You have to wonder, if it has such an inhibitory effect on cell growth, why is it so safe to use in pregnancy? Maybe because it's only used in the last 2 weeks?

I remember very well when Panacur first came on the market donkey's years ago, the drug rep came round to talk about it - said it was the safest thing on the market and the only way you could harm an animal would be to fill a bucket and drown it in the stuff.

He then drank a cup of it in front of us.

Mebendazole is licenced for human use and fenbendazole has been considered for antifungal use.

It was a recommended treatment for aspergillosis in dogs when I trained. It was considered to have some effect on the immune system rather than intrinsically antifungal.

If so it may just have some useful activity!!

Hmm, sounds a little far-fetched, more work needed I'd have said, there have been so many miracle cancer cures over the years which have proven to be nonsense. Still, not as daft as sticking coffee up your bottom!

And the most unbelievable thing about the article - only $5.00 for a week's supply of fenbendazole from the vet, has anyone told Rip Off Britain?

I pondered that too but it could be worth trying on a pet if all else fails and/or there’s little money available....on the other hand, his family might have shares in the company producing or marketing the fenbendazole! Little would surprise me nowadays in this mad world

Of course the "dog medicine" is what cured the cancer, not whatever was in the clinical trial....
