Mix in water until no more will dissolve, then you will have a saturated solution all ready to go for homeopathy - only needs a single atom in any volume of water.

Separately, fill a container full of tapwater. Label the water "Plumbum Metallicum".

Job done.

Scrap metal dealers will buy them from garages/breakers etc (for lead/acid batteries they should be stored in proper leak proof containers - not a concern for aprons!). Price will be lower for items containing lead (such as batteries etc) and higher for straight lead (such as builders flashing)

Perfectly legal to sell them to someone else as long as they are not waste. Having sold them as lead aprons, it's no concern of yours what the buyer does with them.

I think it would be rather difficult to extract the lead from the apron though.

Garages have to dispose of old lead-acid batteries all the time (at some expense). Who takes those?

Or you could find a company that makes saddle cloth weights for horse racing and see if they could recycle them.

You might find a sea angler who would take them. My husband goes scuba diving for lost lead fishing weights at the end of weekends and bank holidays at a particular spot where loads of people fish off the rocks. He made a mould to recycle the damaged ones into new ones. He also made some DIY weights for his BCD.

No idea if it would be legal to palm them off on a third party for this purpose though.

Donate to your local church - they could use them to fill the holes in the roof where their own lead has been nicked.

I am sure your local scrap dealer will be more than happy to take them off your hands or you can contact your local council. They may make a charge for business waste disposal.

Have you tried contacting a local scrap metal recycling company?
