They also draw bloods for progesterone assays and other diagnostics, administer Oxytocin, and Calcium use Ultrasound for pregnancy diagnosis as well as monitoring dystocia cases . I am pretty confident that this one is also starting to intervene surgically, I am waiting for them to stub their toes again, they did recently with a persistently vomiting Shih tzu ,and were treating her for morning sickness when she had an FB. It died on arrival , but the client refused to do anything.

Its a welfare issue and your sorry for the dogs but some of these people/breeders really do deserve want they get and do we really want them in the waiting room whinging over fees and calling us names ?.

RE: Local fertility clinic offering veterinary services
good luck if you think RCVS will do anything about it
RCVS only has jurisdiction over vets. If there isn't a vet involved here this would be a matter for the state authorities, although I've a feeling they are unlikely to see this as an urgent matter if no harm is done to the animals.
I am grateful for their existence. Because of them we don't get to see the weirdoes looking for a cheap way to breed their crooked dogs.
That's a good way to look at it, I'm happier now

If they're taking money for services rendered then they are operating as a business.

They are however allowed to inseminate, and to pregnancy scan - they overstep if tehy "diagnose" a pyometra...! What you can do about it is another thing entirely - when I have approached teh College on similar things they advise that they have no powerrs. If a bitch were to come to harm from something advised based on interpretaion you van get trading standards/welfare officers involved (in NI they would be council emplyees), and they do have some teeth. frustrating.

RE: Local fertility clinic offering veterinary services
Many of them can but people are lazy and would prefer not to put the work in.
They are a few scattered all over the country but good luck if you think RCVS will do anything about it. All powered up by french or english bulldog breeders. Probably laundering a bit of money in as well.
.. an act of veterinary surgery, surely.
Not vaginal insemination. TCI is but they can't do it anyway.

We are maybe more aware of those places as we do a lot of small animal reproduction. They are certainly overstepping boundaries but I am grateful for their existence. Because of them we don't get to see the weirdoes looking for a cheap way to breed their crooked dogs.

Some of them are great fun, like the one in Rotherham who can't even spell semen or ultrasound on their advert. Semen, seamen, who even care lol
