If it becomes open, just close the tunic too.

Skin wise it depends on size of rat. I did my rats at 3 months old so the holes were tiny and I just left them open. If larger holes, I'd glue.

RE: Rat castration

I do bilateral distal scrotal incisions, open castration then suture the tunic closed and glue the skin

RE: Rat castration

Thanks Gillian. Do you tend to suture the skin of just use tissue adhesive which Is what I do in Rabbits now? And do you do them with the tunic open or closed?

RE: Rat castration

I do them scrotally.
