Owner compliance tends to be good too because of the low pricetag. Since you have tried these and she is very picky, consider a home cooked diet but it would need to be formulated by a veterinary nutritionist such as Isuru Gajanake or Marge Chandler. Purina HA is relatively low in fat and may also be worth a try

I find low fat diet seems to be most helpful thing in chronic panc (albeit most of my cases are miniature schnauzers).

I've had some do well on a lowish fish diet such as cod.

preds can help with diet pickiness :-)

RE: Diets for pancreatitis

Last one I dealt with is doing fairly well on prednisolone with Pardale-V used as and when needed.

RE: Diets for pancreatitis

The tablets seem to work quite well at home.

Those that just have bad days usually have meloxicam. I admit that the bad ones usually get Prevomax in here but I am happy for them to have a small supply of Cerenia if they find it helpful.

Anything that goes on for any time needs to be seen of course.

RE: Diets for pancreatitis

I use paracetamol...
do you send them home on this Bob? I use it all the time when they’re in the hospital. Never used the tablets for this before.
We’ve imaged and the pancreas look pretty sad; bright, enlarged, painful, but no mass lesions. There is a degree of delayed gastric emptying.

Does anyone use analgesics for longer term us at home with these chronic cases to use on a bad day? Pardale? Tramadol? Anything else?

[/quote]

These cases can be so frustrating, might there be some benefit to pancreatic enzyme supplementation?
