I feel omeprazole is one of the most overused drugs in veterinary medicine (along with metronidazole and lets not start on small animal parasite drugs). That said, there IS veterinary evidence that PPIs do reduce reflux in our patients. Although we see few of these dogs, I don't use them routinely (or ever at all). A Spanish vet at a local referral centre sends everything home on meloxicam and omeprazole.

Good evidence summary here:

Completely agree - and, as you can probably guess, I don't blindly follow protocol if I disagree with it. Its just that I can see the potential benefit in these dogs.
I've anaesthetised hundreds, possibly thousands, of bracycephalic dog without any known issues of vomiting or regurgitation on recovery, without the use of Maropitant or Omeprazole.
Same. But we don't always know if reflux has happened, or whether it's caused any oesophageal irritation or damage. Even if they were inappetant for a few days post op, or develop strictures etc later, we may not consider it as a potential cause.

Cerenia tablets should be administered once daily, at a dose of 8 mg maropitant per kg bodyweight, using the numbers of tablets given in the table below. Tablets are breakable along the score line on the tablet.

I am bit confused now , data sheet says:

'The use of Cerenia solution for injection against vomiting due to motion sickness is not recommended.'

So is there a different dose?

I presume it would work due to local inhibition of substance P, a pro-inflammatory mediator, but that's all I know.
