If a dog has been blood sampled in the past (yes the old dogs) and is fully vaccinated and regularly done since. Do they need to be reblood sampled?

If blood sampled and no break in the vaccination that's fine

Caveat is that if the blood sample was taken less than 30 days after the vaccination, then invalidated. So guess we need to have the original paperwork

That is actually pretty significant. I knew that any new passports to be certain need to have the blood test 30 days after but hadn’t actually considered any older ones as we often used to take the bloods 3-4 weeks after to be sure that they responded well. I’ll have to speak to one or two clients who travel quite a lot!

I bet the blood test was done within 30 days therefore will not do!

RE: Rabies, passports and blood sampled with a titre years ago
Have you asked DEFRA?
No - I think if they are fully vaccinated or have been for years there are no extra requirements. It's only those getting new passports immediately pre-Brexit.
I think we don't yet know the answer to this- it will depend on deal or no deal.

if a dog has had a passport for several years but never had rabies serology testing done at an approved lab then they may well still need blood testing and there may be a three month no travel period after the blood sample date - it will depend on the Brexit deal ( or no deal)!

See notes part way down this page.

No, travels to the Middle East and has them every 2 years

Not yet

Has the rabies vaccine ever lapsed for the patient in question.

In the old days once the blood test was done as long as they never were late for a rabies booster they were ok to continue travelling, if rabies booster late, even by 24 hours it was a case of re start vaccine then repeat blood test.

Have you asked DEFRA?

RE: Rabies, passports and blood sampled with a titre years ago
No - I think
I need to be sure, or default to get the blood sample done, as who knows?
