Antibiotics, yes fair comment. Ideally I would have liked to get the fluid looked at, but the client wasn't keen so a just in case

The reaction round the entry point can sometimes make it look like a papilla.

I'm not sure it merits antibiotic treatment.

RE: Mass under mandible

Lymphoid tissue?

RE: Mass under mandible

Thanks, all very helpful

Agree , too far forward for a mucocoele

Home on time and antirobe, analysis of fluid refused

I'm here for 2 weeks and client has promised to call next Friday.

Sublingual salivary gland mucocoele?

[/quote]

I would say this is in the wrong position (mucocoele would normally be ventral to and between mandibles).

I would go for trauma with possible sub-mucosal haemorrhage. I would probably give it some time +/- whatever medication seems appropriate, but if not painful then no medication may be fine. Biopsy if not resolving.

RE: Mass under mandible

Sublingual salivary gland mucocoele?

RE: Mass under mandible

Possibly pranged the soft tissue with a stick ... likely infected and reactive ( even without overt pus).
