I have'nt had breakthrough cases with advocate, but why are all collies just on the dividing line between sizes!!!!

Yes you can use a smaller dose of Panacur in severe cases, to reduce the rapidity of the kill. But I guess it would be very hard to give an accurate small dose of Advocate?

So next question. Does monthly treatment of either Milbemax or Advocate prevent lungworm infection / disease?

Milbemax is too slow, takes 4 doses at weekly intervals to kill, no use with a dog that is haemorrhaging. Opposite prob with Advocate-kills so fast you end up with a fulminating pneumonia, even if you give covering antibiotic and also steroid. The dead worms in vast quantities are even more antigenic than the live ones. I always give Panacur, antibiotic and steroid to clinical cases, and have a pretty good success rate with that regime-hope no-one from VMD are monitoring !!!!
