I know understand why I was wrong. But I am still surprised at how much cats seem to like licking up ketchup or baked beans residue! Life is full of surprises! [/quote]

Wow, Your cats are definitely weird. and not just mine then . I hope that you all read my letter in the Vet. Record back in 2016 about how we used to find half-eaten cherry tomatoes around our kitchen-floor? Puzzling until we saw our kitten fish them out of the salad bowl, chase them as they "bobbled" across the floor, then he caught them, killed them and ate them. Not sure how and why he scooped them out of the salad bowl the first instance!

He would, as we say up here, get a piece at anyone's door. He once attempted curried cauliflower (as I discovered when I went to clean it up!) and apparently went to the kebab shop every Friday night, where he was a local celebrity and everyone gave him bits of kebab, meanwhile I was spending a fortune on obesity control and couldn't understand why it wasn't working! We lived above the surgery and he and the surgery cat used to get together to break into bags of food- canine k/d, I/d , didn't matter

RE: Cats' odd tastes - just for fun

I had a cat who was obsessed with peas and sweetcorn. We had a cat, Jerry, who adopted us and he used to be the yard-cat at the farm next door. He was not feral temperament at all I but extremely docile and slept on our bed regularly. He used to be fed bits of sandwich by the farm-workers and ate anything. On one occasion he sat I front of our log fire and devoured a whole custard tart, pastry and all! I laughed at him because he then lay flat out on his side in front of said fire and his stomach was swollen and bulging like he had swallowed a tennis ball!

My proudest moment with him was when my wife's friend came round with her Jack Russell and the dog was about to come in through the patio doors from the garden at the same moment Jerry decided to go out. They both froze and at a distance of a few inches eyeballed each other before the Jack Russell turned tail and fled. I was very proud that Jerry had faced down a terrier. But probably after years of living outside here, a JRT was no threat to a cat who had probably coped with foxes and badgers while roaming free from the farm for years! Jerry, the coolest cat in this valley!

Sorry, that's a bit of a tangent on eating habits but his lifestyle was pertinent to Jerry's appetites .
