I have a client who was prescribed Interferon A 3000 iu/ml drops for her dog by a referral clinician. The dog was diagnosed with ocular meanoma after having an enucleation in July 2017. Unfortunately she is no longer able to get them from that vet, so has asked me try to source them.

Firstly, is there a benefit to still using this drug? (I'm afraid I know nothing about it!) Is anybody else routinely using it?

If so, does anyone know how I get hold of it? Is it just the usual wholesalers (I can't seem to find it) or somewhere special???

Appreciate any advice with this one!

I use Virbagen Omega (still on the NVS order system) for treatment of FHV conjunctivitis diluted to 250,000 iu/ml, frozen into 20 ml aliquots as it will only remain stable once thawed even refrigerated for 21 days, and put in one drop 6x daily. Not sure how this would work for your purpose but interferon works as an immunomodulatory agent as well as it's anti-viral properties and that may be as important. If you plan to use it at 3000 iu/ml you would have to dilute 10 MU in 3 L saline so a lot of aliquots and it sounds like its almost at homeopathic levels!! Hope that helps.

I’ve only used it orally to treat chronic gingivitis in cats. Not heard of it in melanoma treatment ?
