I would like to hear your views regarding Certs. I am thinking of enrolling on a Small Animal Surgery certificate.
As I see it there are three options, BSAVA, RVC CertAVP and Improve. I have already completed the PGCert and PgC in

RE: Small animal surgical certs.

Thank you all for your thoughts :)

RE: Small animal surgical certs.

I did my certAVP in small animal surgery through Liverpool Vet School. Very good course :taught modules, well structured. Together with a B module in medicine it is a good refresher and shows you gaps in your knowledge. I think you get out of it what you put into it. I have always chosen to do practical surgery CPD courses in the past ( too busy and too poor to do them anymore) and the certificate consolidated that learning.

I completed a 2-year Improve course many years ago and it was quite practical. I did the RCVS CertSAS as well and the depth of knowledge was a step up. I'd say the RCVS Cert was more rewarding overall; it also taught me how much I didn't know! I have heard good things about BSAVA certs but have no personal experience of them.
