I threw out my last OOD stock ages ago :-)

We've got stacks and it's all in date. I know this as the VMD inspector checked the dates on every single drug we held last week and I was surprised it had such a long shelf life!! The etorphine is a whole different matter though...

I vaguely recall the last lot we ordered came up under a different name on NVS. The production was taken on by another company and its name was changed. I'll have a look when I have a moment tomorrow

Got some fish sedative from vetark. Worked beautifully and fast . Cut the teeth and recovered fish in less than 10 minutes . It was quite a large Nile puffer fish .

RE: Puffer fish dentistry

Feeding crunchy/shelled food instead of soft bodied prey is recommended but I haven't had any come back for regular trims so no idea if diet change was successful!

RE: Puffer fish dentistry

Thanks , there must be a natural way of keeping the beak short?

RE: Puffer fish dentistry

I use MS222 in some tank water (buffered with an equal volume of bicarbonate powder)- the MS222 info sheet has details on amount needed based on water volume being used. I then use a dremel to shorten and smooth the teeth. It is quick to do so I take them out of the water and do it, then return them to unmedicated, oxygenated tank water to recover. If it takes a bit longer, trickle MS222 medicated water over the gills to keep them asleep.

As far as I'm aware current anaesthetic recommendation is MS222, but I think you need to buffer the solution. I don't think clove oil is currently recommended, but as I said I've never done one.
