It was a few years ago now...but do you know...we did get paid!!!! It was a dear little puppy at the time..he was subsequently seized a few years later under the Dangerous Dogs Act.

Mmmm...one oughtn't make sweeping generalisations but you could see that outcome from a mile off!!!

I wonder if your heroin addicts users paid you Marni? I would be reluctant to use my precious resources it on that sort of case and reserve it for situations like your kitten.

We had a dog that accidentally had a double dose of methadone pre-med, and was actually fine post-op (though was pretty dysphoric for the first couple of hours).

I was told about Butorphanol by my friend who did her PhD in anaesthesia. Might have been me who mentioned it on here before. I think it works because it is a partial agonist/antagonist.

We use diprenorphine (M5050) to reverse etorphine and only have naloxone prescribed by GP for accidental human exposure. Naloxone was available on a private prescrption via hospital pharmacy when I asked last year.

I did read somewhere (probably VetSurgeon) that you can use butorphanol. Also naloxone is shorter acting than most opioid s that trying to reverse so watch for them converting back.

Same here...I keep Parvolex and a bag of the lipid infusion in too..usually end up unused and out of date...

we tried our local pharmacists but apparently it is restricted to drug rehab so they wouldn't sell us some. The comment was to try the local rehab centre but we haven't managed to do this yet. Not available though H/schein either.

Centaur supply it. If your wholesaler doesn't ask your local pharmacy or hospital if they can source it for you.

One of those drugs that, as a single-vet practice, it's not financially sensible for me to stock - as I'm pretty sure it'll end up being disposed of unused. But I'll be pleased to have it immediately available if I need it so I stock it, along with a few other antidotes that are also likely to go out of date!
