a (non-animal) member of staff at work has asked me about his German shepherd which is somewhat outside my usual species comfort zone! She is a 7 month old unspayed bitch, owned since 12wks of age. She has been markedly lame on her R fore for the

RE: Bone lesion in GSD
Malcolm Ness once of this forum
Not sure he's entirely absent

RE: Bone lesion in GSD

As above.

Panosteitis can normally be heavily suspected by the laying on of hands. Palpation of the long bones with some pressure, especially near the joints, often produces a classic repeatable pain response.

That with the signalment normally enough (I rarely rad these any more).

Above was almost all from Malcolm Ness once of this forum.

Codeine and paracetamol only is an odd choice I must say.

RE: Bone lesion in GSD

Thanks all - I had thought panosteitis from the history (I vaguely remember some info from uni days!) but then panicked looking at the xrays! Not sure what MRI would add (apart from to the bill); not sure I'd be jumping to biopsy. Where is the dog painful? Consider an NSAID? Referral of xrays to an orthopod is usually a pretty good value step (though obv appreciate you've posted them here).
