Set-up and care excellent but as usual/often the owner feeds probably a too high fat/protein diet.

Back history:
He presented perhaps ~6months ago with left forelimb lameness and swelling around the elbow

RE: PU/PD/inappetance in 5yo male Bosc monitor

Just to say I am in awe of you guys treating all these exotics- I had to google what a Bosc monitor was! Out of interest, how did the owner take it for a swin in the river? With a harness on?

RE: PU/PD/inappetance in 5yo male Bosc monitor

Sorry, just questions for now as nothing specific or exciting from results!

Did you manage to localise the mass when you were scanning?

What level of PU/PD? What are temperatures, diet and space provisions? Is this definitely a male?

Can you post rads? were the fat pads asymmetrical? Was the liver echogenicity distinct from fat pad echogenicity - the more similar they are the more likely hepatic lipidosis is?

I'd be tempted to scope or CT to get more info, bloods are often unrewarding and non-specific in reptiles and being able to identify lesions on imaging (and plan/carry out biopsies) is very useful. I would however probably not rush in immediately though as chucking him in a river and dropping his temperature is a good way to induce inappetance!! As long as he is otherwise well then sit back for a few days more with minimal intervention. Though if he is an obese Bosc hepatic lipidosis is a likely outcome with prolonged anorexia and you will want his owner assist/force feeding small quantities to help prevent this.
