Apart from the obvious problems of getting ear drops in daily when it curls into a ball there is not a proprietary ear drop with the antibiotics the mixed infection is sensitive to.
in cats and dogs; for example I read a study on rabbits where the halflife was massively shorter than for cats and dogs
I can't see any reason why not but anyone got more info on this
I think it is that 'small mammals' covers a large range of species, including guinea pigs and rabbits and from the licensing data "Cefovecin is an antibiotic, which can be toxic to rodents, as demonstrated in guinea pigs, due to the destruction of the natural flora of their intestinal tracts. Therefore the use of this product in small herbivores (including guinea pigs and rabbits) is contraindicated, and section 4.3 of the SPC includes a contraindication to this effect." and the BSAVA formularly has extended this to 'small mammals'?

It's a 3rd generation cephalosporin, that's a good enough reason for me. Quite happy to have never used the product.
