The owner is worried about the black spot that's developed on his nose over the last few months. The spot is completely flat to the skin and not bothering him at all. If he was ginger I'd be thinking lentigo

RE: Lentigo or something else...?
We only have ginger cats (stupid friendly gene attached as standard)
We only have ginger cats (stupid friendly gene attached as standard)

They both have pigmented areas that run along the lips, that get more frequent with age, never struck me as being an issue

How do these vary from Lentigo, Kate?

The texture of the nose is normal as far as I could tell.
If present then just pigment, if the normal structure has been lost then monitor more closely/biopsy.

I think clinican’s brief had a good article about nasal planum issues with pics so might be worth looking at that too.

nothing to add for your case, but thank you for this- I have been looking at my elderly ginger cat with suspicion lately as he has some pigmented areas just like this appearing on his lips and gingiva. This saves me having to stress him out with being examined by a proper vet (semi-feral beast!) and I shall keep an eye on them.

This forum is fab, information I need even when I don't actively search for it!

1) Monitor.

2) Referral to dermatologist for expert opinion.
