Could you look at the radiographs, please. Hard to get good skull radiographs. 12 year old cat seen by other vet here 2-3 weeks ago with bulging eye, worsening over previous 2 weeks. Dispensed Opticin only. Recheck with me a couple of days

RE: 12 Year Old Cat Skull Radiographs.

Yes. I'm thinking neoplastic, fungal or nasty mycobacterium. May get specialist radiologist opinion. Either way, owners can't afford much more ongoing expensive diagnostics such as CT scan or treatment such as radiation, fluconazole for months if fungal, long-term clindamycin (we have tablets - could try crushed in food for a few days to see if she'll eat them). Poor long-term prognosis if any of the above.

The PMIII/IV extraction site was about 50% healed - would expect poor/little healing, if neoplastic but affected area appears to be in soft tissue. Dog I had a few months ago with oral MCT progressed very quickly - 3 weeks from initial presentation with slab fracture to upper R carnassial to 1/2 skull affected.

RE: 12 Year Old Cat Skull Radiographs.

+1 for looks like neoplastic

RE: 12 Year Old Cat Skull Radiographs.

Looks

Don't discount fungal infections. I've seen a few, horribly invasive and can look very much like abscesses.
