Anaesthetic gas monitoring is something that is pretty much standard in UK now.

We used to be exempted if we had AGSS but the latest practice standards scheme guidance says we have to have it anyway. It sounds like a reasonable thing for an inspector to want in a TP.

It's not too onerous, we get supplied with the kit from our H&S people (Salus) and it's just a case of clipping a small, unobtrusive glass tube to your collar-line for a number of hours while you're operating, filling in a form telling them whether this was a 'normal' or 'worst case' scenario and sending it back. They will then analyse the tube, do a time-weighted average calculation and tell you how you are doing. At the moment we are required to do this annually.

Is that what you were after?

We have a documented review to keep the COSH sheets updated. Have to admit it is not the most thorough review but is thoroughly documented!!!!

I fear we are better at putting paperwork together than using the information but we are all familiar with the substances we are using and the common sense required to safely use them!
