Hi Phil,

The dosing is very different so don't give 25 capsules!

Alfacalcidol is dosed similar to calcitriol starting at around 15 nanogram/kg BID although it is a bit less effective than calcitriol so often we need to titrate up over time.

suggest that may be available in UK, but may not be or may be for human use only.

could import from EU perhaps under an STC like get sucralfate etc?

German approved brand ATITEN Lösung for instance?

eg

https://www.medpex.de/atiten-loesung-p643979

https://www.bodfeld-apotheke.de/search/result?term=atiten&row=0&order_by=Relevance&order_direction=DESC

Same "Atiten" brand approved by Italian medicines regulator (https://farmaci.agenziafarmaco.gov.it/bancadatifarmaci/farmaco?farmaco=005713)

and marketed by Teofarma (no guarantee you can get it of course, but appears to be avialable: https://www.starbene.it/farmaci/atiten-os-gtt-15ml-1mg_ml_005713019)

A11CC02 is the ATC code for dihydrotachysterol if searching outside the UK for a suitable product. (https://www.whocc.no/atc_ddd_index/?code=A11CC02)

The Canadians hint at having a product also: http://napra.ca/nds/dihydrotachysterol

0.2mg tablets crop up a lot on google also if these are suitable, e.g. http://www.bbfarma.com/atc-code/A11CC02-EN-DIHYDROTACHYSTEROL.html

PS - there are also clear cons out there, e.g. I can guarantee that Abbott does not make tachyrol tablets licensed in Ireland!!! https://myhealthbox.eu/en/medicine/tachyrol/808350

Otherwise we end up going through a similar process of titrating the dose to effect.

No direct equivalent that I am aware of. We are using alfacalcidol (one-alpha) now.
