It was associated with a deformed 309 tooth and extracted easily with very little elevation and it has has odd fused roots like its 2 teeth sharing roots

RE: One for Evelyn: Odd teeth in young dog possible congenital defect/bone cyst

Hope the problem isn't jaw fracture...
The X-ray show this isn't the case albeit there is significant rarifaction of the cortical bone adjacent to the extracted 309.
On the radiographs I see a huge defect in bone on each side. The fracture may never happen, or it may happen tomorrow. The worse the bony defect round 409 gets, the more likely the fracture.
I was thinking of leaving it a few weeks,
Yes, two or three weeks is what I would suggest. Tell them you've been studying the radiographs, or you've taken advice (no charge!) from a Recognised Specialist, or something.

RE: One for Evelyn: Odd teeth in young dog possible congenital defect/bone cyst
Hope the problem isn't jaw fracture...
The X-ray show this isn't the case albeit there is significant rarifaction of the cortical bone adjacent to the extracted 309.
That depends upon your definition of urgency. Extract it before the greater problem arises.
I was thinking of leaving it a few weeks, at least until the owner's finances recover. So is the endodontitis likely to progress rapidly? I've instructed the owner not to let the dog chew on sticks, toys and hard toys as I suspect trauma was a major issue with the one I've extracted.

RE: One for Evelyn: Odd teeth in young dog possible congenital defect/bone cyst
Is there any urgency in extracting 409 or leave it until it cause problems?

Thanks for the reply Peter. This dog does not appear to be in any discomfort and has been discharged. I suspect with the sudden onset with the tooth I extracted it was traumatic as the result of chewing hard and compacting the root. Is there any urgency in extracting 409 or leave it until it cause problems?

I agree with Evelyn! Endodontic treatment is an option. Prompt treatment is advisable as there is a risk of pathological jaw fracture in this dog.

RE: One for Evelyn: Odd teeth in young dog possible congenital defect/bone cyst

If it wuz me I'd extract the 409 now.

It's a developmental problem associated with the teeth. In my experience mandibular first molars are most commonly affected. Extraction should solve the problem. The bone loss is associated with endodontic disease rather than periodontitis.
